House Bill 1787

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CORONAVIRUS REIMBURSEMENT RELIEF FUND TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CORONAVIRUS REIMBURSEMENT RELIEF PROGRAM THAT IS ESTABLISHED FOR PURPOSES RELATED TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY DUE TO COVID-19; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money of the Local Government Coronavirus Reimbursement Relief Fund created in Section 1 of House Bill No. 1781, 2020 Regular Session, to the Department of Finance and Administration for the purposes described in Section 1 of House Bill No. 1781, 2020 Regular Session, for the period beginning upon July 1, 2020 and ending December 30, 2020....................................... $ 65,000,000.00.

     SECTION 2.  As a condition of receiving and expending the funds appropriated to Department of Finance and Administration under Section 1 of this act, the department shall certify that each expenditure of the funds appropriated to the department under Section 1 of this act is in compliance with the guidelines, guidance, rules, regulations and/or other criteria, as may be amended from time to time, of the United States Department of the Treasury regarding the use of monies from the Coronavirus Relief Fund established by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

     SECTION 3.  The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the Local Government Coronavirus Reimbursement Relief Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2020.
