AMENDMENT NO 1 PROPOSED TO
Senate Bill No. 2365

AMEND by deleting lines 104 through 113 in their entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"(o) "Interchangeable biological product" or "I.B." means a biological product that is biosimilar or therapeutically equivalent to the reference product and is expected to produce the same clinical result as the reference product in any given patient. Medical marijuana that may be legally prescribed in Mississippi shall be considered as an interchangeable biological product for any biological product that is used for the treatment of any of the following diseases or conditions:
(i) Cancer, glaucoma, positive status for human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS), hepatitis C, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Tourette's syndrome, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), severe arthritis, fibromyalgia or Alzheimer's disease;
(ii) A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition that produces one (1) or more of the following: cachexia or wasting syndrome; peripheral neuropathy; intractable pain, which is pain that has not responded to ordinary medications, treatment or surgical measures for more than six (6) months; severe nausea; seizures, including without limitation those characteristic of epilepsy; or severe and persistent muscle spasms, including without limitation those characteristic of multiple sclerosis; and
(iii) A condition diagnosed by a physician that is the side effect of the treatment of any of the diseases or conditions specified in subparagraph (i) or (ii) of this paragraph."
