A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE KOSSUTH FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA (FFA) SENIOR LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAM FOR WINNING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND HIGH INDIVIDUAL OVERALL HONORS AND REPRESENTING MISSISSIPPI IN THE NATIONAL CONTEST.
WHEREAS, the Mississippi State FFA Livestock Judging Contest was held on February 21, 2019, at Hinds Community College; and
WHEREAS, Junior and Senior FFA members from across the state completed a written exam, placed classes of beef cattle, goats, pigs and sheep, and presented oral reason on those classes in the hope of earning a State Championship and the opportunity for the Senior Team to represent Mississippi at the National FFA Livestock Judging Contest in Indianapolis, Indiana, during National FFA Convention in October 2019; and
WHEREAS, the Senior Kossuth FFA Livestock Judging Team after Second-Place finish in 2018, moved up one spot earning a State Championship. Three of the members represented Mississippi in Denver at the 4H Western National Competition in January: Marlee Turner, Morgan Drewry and Levi Sides; and
WHEREAS, Senior Team Members are Morgan Drewry, Maddy Holmes, Levi Sides and Marlee Turner, with Marlee Turner earning a High Individual Overall Honors Award and a High Point Individual Award. Junior Team Members are Brody Bono, Brennan Bullard, Sarah Kate Childs and Anna Cait Osbirn; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these Mississippi agri-students who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Kossuth Future Farmers of America (FFA) Senior Livestock Judging Team for winning the State Championship and High Individual Overall Honors Award and representing Mississippi in the National Contest, and extend to the Judging Team and Instructors our best wishes for success in the National Competition.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Kossuth High School FFA Senior Livestock Judging Team and Instructors, forwarded to the Kossuth High School Principal Sam Roberts and the Alcorn County Board of Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
