Senate Concurrent Resolution 616

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. VALERIE CLECKLER FOR BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE GEORGE COUNTY CENTER OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Dr. Valerie Cleckler, a resident of Sumrall, Mississippi, has been selected as "Instructor of the Year" at the George County Center of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cleckler, a Psychology Instructor, has taught at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past five years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cleckler received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Southern Mississippi, Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from The University of Southern Mississippi, and Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and School Counseling at The University of Southern Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cleckler worked as a Career Counselor and High School Guidance Counselor prior to working at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cleckler volunteers for Heritage United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Forever 76 Ministries in Sumrall, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend an outstanding teacher who has dedicated her career to mentoring the young citizens of the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. Valerie Cleckler for being selected as Instructor of the Year at the George County Center of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and extend to her our heartiest wishes of success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Dr. Valerie Cleckler, forwarded to the Board of Trustees of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
