A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE RECOGNITION AND COMMENDATION OF THE MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE TO THE JUDICIAL SERVICE OF HONORABLE JAYE A. BRADLEY ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AS CHANCELLOR IN THE 16TH CHANCERY COURT DISTRICT OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, the Honorable Jaye A. Bradley is retiring after serving 19 years as Chancery Court Judge of the Sixteenth Chancery Court District for the State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, in September 2000, Judge Bradley was appointed Chancery Court Judge by Governor Ronnie Musgrove for the 16th Chancery Court District.  She was elected as Chancery Court Judge in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014, which is the position she currently holds as Senior Chancellor.  Judge Bradley has enjoyed serving the people of the Sixteenth Chancery Court District; and

     WHEREAS, Judge Bradley graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi.  She then attended the Ole Miss Law School wherein she received her Juris Doctor degree in 1989; and

     WHEREAS, after her education, she worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  She then moved back to Mississippi where she worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Jackson County; and

     WHEREAS, Judge Bradley later became the Youth Court Referee and Court Administrator of the Jackson County Youth Court.  She then worked as the Staff Attorney for the Circuit Judges of the 19th Judicial District of Jackson County, Mississippi.  In 1993, she received the "Young Careerist Award" from the Business and Professional Women's Chapter in Ocean Springs.  In 1995, she participated in the Leadership Jackson County Program; and

     WHEREAS, in 1999, Judge Bradley was appointed District Attorney by Governor Kirk Fordice; and

     WHEREAS, in 2002, Judge Bradley was selected "Champion for Children" by the Jackson County Children's Service Coalition.  In 2008, she received special recognition from the Mississippi Department of Human Services for the first mass adoption in Region VIII (Jackson County, Mississippi).  This has continued each year to the present; and

     WHEREAS, in 2011 and 2012, Judge Bradley served as President for the Conference of Chancery Judges for the State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, in 2018, Judge Bradley was awarded the Justice Achievement Award by the Mississippi Court Administrator's Conference; and

     WHEREAS, Judge Bradley and Kevin have been married for 29 years.  They have one daughter, Caroline, and one son, Brooks.  She attends Caswell Springs United Methodist Church where her husband, Kevin, is a Pastor.  Judge Bradley is an active supporter of The University of Southern Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Judge Jaye A. Bradley has served as a Leader and Mentor.  She consistently lectured on the professional standards of the practice, including ethics, integrity, civility, courtesy, and adherence to the Golden Rule.  Her judicial service honored both The Mississippi Bar and this great state that she loved and served:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby extend the recognition and commendation of the Mississippi Legislature to the judicial service of Honorable Jaye A. Bradley on the occasion of her retirement as Chancellor in the 16th Chancery Court District of the State of Mississippi.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Judge Bradley, forwarded to the Conference of Chancery Judges, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
