House Resolution 132

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2018 PRESBYTERIAN CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL BOYS TRACK TEAM AND HEAD COACH JOEY HAWKINS FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Presbyterian Christian High School Boys Track Team won the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Class 4A state meet bringing home the 2018 State Championship under the leadership of Coach Joey Hawkins; and

WHEREAS, it was unrelenting resolve and perseverance that led Presbyterian Christian High School Boys Track Team to this ultimate victory, having also claimed the Division 1/2 4A State Championship the week before, scoring 95 points; and

WHEREAS, at the overall meet, the Bobcats had a winner in the shotput, discus, triple jump, 3,200-meter relay, 1,600-meter relay, 400-meter dash and the 1,600-meter dash, and a runner-up in every event; and

WHEREAS, the Bobcats were excellently coached and motivated by Coach Joey Hawkins, who won his 15th boys track state championship and fourth with PCHS before retiring from his 37-year coaching career after the 2018 season; and

WHEREAS, the Bobcats developed a winning and

team-oriented spirit with an attitude that reflects great credit upon the individual players, coaches, Presbyterian Christian High School and the State of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Presbyterian Christian High School Boys Track Team and Coach Joey Hawkins upon a fantastic 2018 season and for winning the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Class 4A State Championship, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Presbyterian Christian High School, Coach Joey Hawkins and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
