House Resolution 129

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PRESBYTERIAN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL BOBCATS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM AND COACH WAYNE WILLIAMS FOR WINNING THE 2018 MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Presbyterian Christian School Bobcats Boys Cross Country Team finished the 2018 season in an outstanding fashion, reigning victorious at the 2018 Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) AAAA State Championship, their fourth consecutive year to win the championship; and

WHEREAS, similar to the swift and agile felines for which they are named, the Bobcats endured and outpaced the competition as they raced over the rolling hills and around the challenging loops, slaying the championship dreams of their foes on their way to the ultimate victory; and

WHEREAS, with fervent determination and dauntless fortitude, the Bobcats persevered and developed an immaculate strategy for enduring the extensive cross country course, which ultimately led to the team winning the distinguished title of state champions; and

WHEREAS, the Bobcats were tremendously coached and greatly inspired by Head Coach Wayne Williams, and while each member of the team contributed to the overall outstanding win, the following talented student-athletes were particularly instrumental in the team's victory, with an average time of 18:13.71 and a total time of 1:31:08.54: Jacob Williams, Jackson McGee, Stuart Blackwell, Cole Miller and Nathan Marcev; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize outstanding student-athletes, especially those such as the Presbyterian Christian School Bobcats Boys Cross Country Team, whose athletic excellence brings honor to their school, their community and the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Presbyterian Christian School Bobcats Boys Cross Country Team and Coach Wayne Williams for winning the 2018 Mississippi Association of Independent Schools AAAA State Championship, and extend sincere wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Wayne Williams and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
