A RESOLUTION COMMENDING KIM RODGERS OF PETAL, MISSISSIPPI, FOR HIS INVALUABLE SERVICE TO THE MISSISSIPPI INDEPENDENT PHARMACIES ASSOCIATION OVER THE YEARS.

     WHEREAS, Kim Rodgers of Petal, Mississippi, is stepping down as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Independent Pharmacies Association in June 2019, after serving as the chairman of the board since 2017, and serving as vice chairman of the board from 2015 to 2017; and

     WHEREAS, the Mississippi Independent Pharmacies Association was created by independent pharmacists in 2002 to provide a unified voice for independently owned pharmacists in Mississippi in public policy discussions, and the association promotes independent, community pharmacies on a statewide and national level; and

     WHEREAS, after graduating from Gulfport High School, Mr. Rodgers attended college at the University of South Alabama and the University of Southern Mississippi before receiving his bachelor of science in pharmacy degree at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy in 1985, and he became a licensed Mississippi pharmacist in the same year; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Rodgers began his long career as a pharmacist at Revlon Pharmacy in Columbia, Mississippi, where he was the staff pharmacist and store manager from 1985 through 1989, and in 1990, he took his recently developed skills and experience to Rodgers Family Pharmacy in Petal, Mississippi, where he continues to serve as pharmacist and store owner-manager to the present day, supervising and training six pharmacy technicians and four pharmacy personnel; and

     WHEREAS, a member of the National Community Pharmacy Association and a past member of the Mississippi Pharmacists Association, as well as a member of the Mississippi Independent Pharmacies Association, Mr. Rodgers' 33 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist delivering high quality pharmaceutical care in retail settings, with 28 of those years as the owner and operator of a privately-owned pharmacy, made him well suited for leadership roles in the Mississippi Independent Pharmacies Association, which led to his selection to the board of directors of the association, and later to vice chairman and then chairman of the board; and

     WHEREAS, under Mr. Rodgers' leadership, the Mississippi Independent Pharmacies Association has continued to be a strong advocate for supporting Mississippi's independently owned pharmacies because the foundation of their business is customer service, they are dedicated to serving the people of the communities in which they are located, and they provide personal attention and individualized care and service to their patients, taking the time to understand their health care needs; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize outstanding Mississippians, especially those such as Kim Rodgers, whose dedication and service to his profession and his community contribute greatly to the betterment of the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Kim Rodgers of Petal, Mississippi, for his invaluable service to the Mississippi Independent Pharmacies Association over the years and especially during his terms as vice chairman and chairman of the board of directors, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Kim Rodgers and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
