House Resolution 89

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE TISHOMINGO HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADING TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 4A-6A VARSITY NONTUMBLING AND FOR PLACING 7TH IN THE PERFORMANCE AND 10TH IN THE GAME DAY COMPETITIONS AT THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, proving hard work and diligence are the keys to success, the Tishomingo High School Cheerleading Team competed in the Mississippi High School Activities Association State Cheer Competition, and after a flawless and electric performance, they captured the State Cheerleading Championship for the 4A-6A Varsity NonTumbling division; and

     WHEREAS, to claim their state cheerleading title, the Tishomingo High School Cheerleaders solidified their rise to championship status by utilizing the experience they gained through various competitions, including the MidSouth Regional Competition in Southaven, where they placed first in Game Day, and the Dixie Championship in Jackson, where they earned 1st place in the Medium Varsity NonTumbling division; and

     WHEREAS, under the insightful and accomplished leadership of Coach Beth James, the cheerleaders exceptionally covered each other's faults, unifying all of their strengths to make a good squad and ultimately executing an outstanding job working toward the accomplishment of these highly pursued goals; and

     WHEREAS, during the state championship competition, the cheerleaders performed a routine with precision and accuracy for the judges and nailed each of their moves; and

     WHEREAS, after capturing the State Cheerleading Championship, the Tishomingo High School Cheerleaders were invited to the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida, where they once again excelled and exhibited their immense abilities, as the Game Day Squad placed 10th in the nation and the Performance Squad placed 7th in the nation; and

     WHEREAS, throughout this special season, the Tishomingo High School Cheerleaders worked extremely hard to succeed, and the members have improved exponentially in all aspects of their cheering abilities, which is largely due to their outstanding God-given talent, strong desire to win and tremendous work ethic; and

     WHEREAS, the members of the Tishomingo High School Cheerleading Team, who constantly impress with their sincere displays of professionalism and self-discipline, include:  Sarah Grace Barnes, Kylee Barry, Madison Bennett, Ashley Booker, Megan Cornelison, Courtney Cox, Avery Dawson, Emilee Grisham, Maggie Hardin, Chloe Hollingsworth, Campbell Holly, Calli Howie, Sophie Johnson, Brianna Lowrey, Cassidy Lowrey, Madison Pruitt, Kaitlyn Robinson, Katelin Senter, Avery Tapp, Alex Taylor, Caroline Tennison, Claire Tennison and Amelia Webb; and

     WHEREAS, the Tishomingo Cheerleaders have practiced and worked together for many hours in the pursuit of greatness and have shown a high degree of sportsmanship while representing the State of Mississippi at all levels of competition, and through their superior accomplishments, these Magnolia State       student-athletes have brought honor to themselves and to Tishomingo High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding student-athletes such as the Tishomingo High School Cheerleading Team, whose superb attitudes and unparalleled determination to reach their championship goals brought honor and glory to Tishomingo High School and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Tishomingo High School Cheerleading Team for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association State Championship in 4A-6A Varsity NonTumbling and for placing 7th in the performance and 10th in the Game Day competitions at the National High School Cheerleading Championship, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Beth James and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
