A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE DISTINGUISHED CAREER AND MERITORIOUS LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE THAT MR. KEITH MONTGOMERY PROVIDED AS THE ASSISTANT CHIEF DEPUTY OF THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.
WHEREAS, Mr. Keith Montgomery has spent the last 10 years of his life providing incomparable and zealous service, leadership and dedication to the State of Mississippi as a member of the State Fire Marshal's office; and
WHEREAS, in 1985, Mr. Montgomery began his career in public service as a Clinton City Council Alderman, and after two terms and garnering immense respect and admiration from his neighbors and friends, he was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives; and
WHEREAS, from 1993 until 2004, State Representative Montgomery tirelessly worked on behalf of the people of his district from the historical floor of the majestic and elaborate House Chamber and served on several committees and as the Vice Chair of Insurance, Conservation and Water Resources, Judiciary A and Military Affairs Committees; and
WHEREAS, having joined an elite fraternity of soldiers in the United States Army in his younger days, Mr. Montgomery was called to active duty in 2004, transitioning his role in the betterment of Mississippi from representative extraordinaire to dedicated soldier; and
WHEREAS, despite exchanging his suits for fatigues, Mr. Montgomery's passion for public service never wavered, so when he retired from the Army in 2008 after 37 years of remarkably distinguished military service, he became a code and HUD inspector with the State Fire Marshal's office; and
WHEREAS, throughout his 10-year tenure with the State Fire Marshal's office, Mr. Montgomery has labored tirelessly to provide his utmost to the office in his roles as code inspector, building inspector, electronic alarm enforcement officer, fire marshal, fire marshal supervisor, liquid compressed gas director, and finally as assistant chief deputy of the Fire Marshal's office; and
WHEREAS, after 36 years of total service to the people of Mississippi, retirement will surely leave an insatiable void for public service and mingling with Mississippi's finest in the heart of Mr. Montgomery, but, as a fantastic homebrewer, he is overjoyed to brew even more delicious beers, travel with his wife, spend time with his eight wonderful grandchildren, and reflect on the countless number of remarkable people that have touched his life throughout his 10-year career with the State Fire Marshal's office; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the tireless devotion to the betterment of Mississippi and honor the ardent vow to impeccable public service that Mr. Keith Montgomery bestowed to the citizens of Mississippi as the Assistant Chief Deputy of the State Fire Marshal's office:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the distinguished career and meritorious leadership and service that Mr. Keith Montgomery provided as the Assistant Chief Deputy of the State Fire Marshal's office upon the occasion of his retirement, and extend sincere wishes for continued success and joy in the lighter days ahead.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Keith Montgomery and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
