House Resolution 47

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DALE ALLEN BLAIR UPON BEING NAMED THE 2018 MISSISSIPPI TRUCK DRIVER OF THE YEAR, EXPRESSING GRATITUDE FOR HIS HARD WORK AND COMMITMENT TO SAFETY AND EXTENDING OUR MOST SINCERE WISHES FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

WHEREAS, Mr. Dale Allen Blair, a resident of Petal, Mississippi, and an employee of Miller Transporters of Jackson, Mississippi, has been awarded the distinct honor of being named Mississippi's Truck Driver of the Year for 2018; and

WHEREAS, this honor reflects the hard work and dedication required from all transportation professionals and Mr. Blair has demonstrated that he represents the very best of his profession; and

WHEREAS, the truck driving profession requires a significant emphasis on both productivity and safety, skill sets that Mr. Blair has evidenced and shown a strong commitment to both in his 40 years of driving, having driven over 3,600,000 accident free miles in the span of his career; and

WHEREAS, in addition to Mr. Blair's outstanding professional career, he further distinguishes himself as a man of strong faith as an ordained deacon and Mr. Blair and his wife of 42 years are active members of Petal-Harvey Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Blair, who has exhibited the highest measure of professionalism in his job, has been recognized on a national level as Professional Driver of the Year in 2013 by XL Insurance Company and as a finalist as Professional Driver of the Year in the National Tank Truck Carrier competition; and

WHEREAS, additionally, Mr. Blair exemplifies the image of the true driving professional with his commitment to public safety, his commitment to his family and most importantly his faith in God along with a steadfast commitment to bettering his community and bettering the State of Mississippi as a whole; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize fine Mississippians, especially those such as Mr. Blair, who represents both true professionalism and a commitment to bettering the motoring public's safety by leading his profession forward:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dale Allen Blair upon being named the 2018 Mississippi Truck Driver of the Year, express gratitude for his hard work and commitment to safety and extend our most sincere wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Blair and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
