House Resolution 26

(As Adopted by House)

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE HORN LAKE HIGH SCHOOL EAGLES FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH BRAD BOYETTE FOR WINNING THE SCHOOL'S FIRST MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION 6A STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Horn Lake High School Eagles Football Team and Head Coach Brad Boyette have completed a perfect 15-0 regular season and reigned supreme throughout the playoffs to win the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) 6A State Football Championship on November 30, 2018; and

WHEREAS, the Eagles, who had a superior season that was driven by more than just the yearning to succeed, intensely amplified all of their hard work, motivation and audacity, which were so apparent all through the season, for the game that  ultimately separated the men from the boys to edge out Oak Grove and collect the school's first MHSAA 6A State Football Championship; and

WHEREAS, as the Eagles walked away with the trophy after a final score of 31-27, the championship game was a test of the  Eagles' stamina, as the game consisted of brutal physicality in the trenches and back and forth scores that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the last down was played at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, for a team that had never advanced past the second round of the playoffs before this season, the Eagles aimed to be the best 6A football program in the state all season long, and they put aside the excitement, fanfare and attention to focus on the championship game and prepare as they had throughout the season, and that strategy, along with the monumental support from the entire Horn Lake community, helped solidify championship status for the Eagles; and

WHEREAS, throughout the 2018 season, the Eagles faced off with some of the state's best contenders on the gridiron, but persevered to make their presence and talent known as gladiators of football under the Friday night lights; and

WHEREAS, the Eagles' statistics were impressive this season, and there were outstanding performances by individual players, but the key to the team's remarkable success has been the constant team atmosphere and year-round hard work by the following talented student-athletes:  Tony Washington, Drew Leverson, Alonzo Hunt, Josaih Hayes, Rashard Daniels, Jaylen Sulton, Raydarious Jones, A.J. Bullard, Micheal Campbell, Corey Gates, Landon Booker, Micah Rogers, Cartavious Reed, Trinton Conder, Emeko Blakes Jr., Nick Frampton, Aaron Lyons, Patrick Gilliam, Brian Heard Jr., Nakobe Dean, Justin Jackson, Octavius Williams, Rosheam Grant, Jakivuan Brown, Deon Biggins, Styles Booker, Emmanual Nicholson, Jonathan Hardy, Jarnorris Hopson, Jessie Oliver, Cameron Macklin, Timothy Thornton II, Jamario Harris, Quinton Campbell, Oneri Houston, Randy Thomas, Tylan Shorty, Courtney Walls, Tracy Turner, Doron Smith, Xavier Simmons, Julian Ayala, Jaylen Lipscomb, Markeith Harris, Camareas Langon, Jaquavius Hodges, Ladarrian Morgan, Roderick Daniels, Isaac Marquez, Jaylin Rice, Michael Randle, Derrick West Jr., Charles Thomas, Korvin Hayes, Kadarius Smith, Austin Munns, Joshua Tyler, Kylan Isabell, Omar Pew, Zay Stephens, Undre Starks, Javarius Johnson, Joshua Ayala, Robert Whitehead, Jaylon Hill, Jon Boring, Ardayvion Norwood, Mario Jones, Sean Wahlquist, Laderrick Mallard, Jordan Perry, Jaylan Harris, Matthew Williams, Dominic Leftwich, Thadias Williams, Javan McClendon, Blaine Engstrom, Jermarion Brown, Hunter Berryman, Adrell Evans, Dontrell Kershaw, Chris Craine, Savon Williams, Esaw Conley, Deandre Boyd, Dyllon Bullard, Jeremiah Givens, Ke'von Lawrence, Lathaddeus Leflore, Quenton Kyles, Roshaud Tribbit and Tony Davis Jr.; and
