AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 9-7-14, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REMOVE THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR JUDGES IN THE THIRD CIRCUIT COURT DISTRICT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 9-7-14, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
9-7-14. (1) There shall be three (3) judges for the Third Circuit Court District.
(2) The three (3)
judgeships shall be separate and distinct and denominated for purposes of
appointment and election only as "Place One," "Place Two"
and "Place Three." * * *
(3) The provisions of this act shall be applicable to the next regular judicial election held in November 2022 for the Third Circuit Court District, to any special election that occurs before November 2022 for such judgeships and to any election that occurs thereafter for such judgeships.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
