AMEND by striking lines 33 through 38 and insert in lieu thereof the following:
(2) Courts may exercise jurisdiction over primary election contests involving legislative seats as otherwise provided by law; however, once a regular session of the Legislature that follows a regular general election for members of the Legislature convenes, each house of the Mississippi State Legislature shall have exclusive jurisdiction over primary election contests that involve a seat in its house regardless of any proceeding under any other provision of law.
FURTHER AMEND by striking lines 2 through 6 of the title and insert in lieu thereof the following:
TO PROVIDE THAT REGARDLESS OF COURT PROCEEDINGS OTHERWISE AUTHORIZED BY LAW, ONCE A REGULAR SESSION OF THE LEGISLATURE THAT FOLLOWS A REGULAR GENERAL ELECTION FOR MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE CONVENES, EACH HOUSE OF THE MISSISSIPPI STATE LEGISLATURE SHALL HAVE EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION OVER PRIMARY ELECTION CONTESTS THAT INVOLVE A SEAT IN ITS HOUSE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
