AMENDMENT NO 19 PROPOSED TO

     AMEND on line 3893 by inserting the following after the period:

"However, the provisions of Sections 1 through 22 of this act shall not become effective unless the State Board of Education shall cease to require the administration of all end-of-course subject area tests.  In lieu of the end-of-course tests, as a condition for graduation, students enrolled in the public schools must achieve a satisfactory score on the ACT test.  The State Board of Education shall adopt a policy requiring the administration of the ACT test to all students and shall establish the minimum score, which may be increased from time to time, which is required for a student to meet the requirements for a standard Mississippi high school diploma."

     AMEND further on lines 3874 through 3877 by striking the following language:

"Any course that is required for subject area testing as a requirement for graduation from a public school in Mississippi is eligible for dual credit, and".

     AMEND further on line 3877 by striking: "shall also".

     AMEND further on lines 6173 through 6176 by striking the following:

", who are enrolled in subject area courses through January 31 in a school with a traditional class schedule or who are enrolled in subject area courses through October 31 or through March 31 in a school on a block schedule,".

     AMEND further on line 6177 by inserting after the word "shall" the following:  "not".

     AMEND further the title to conform.
