A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING MINACT, INC., FOR 40 YEARS OF ACHIEVEMENT AND AWARD-WINNING QUALITY TRAINING AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, MINACT, INC., was incorporated under the laws of the State of Mississippi in February 1978.  From inception, MINACT, INC., has concentrated on providing management and educational services consistent with its chartered purpose to "perform all manners and kinds of contracts, agreements and obligations for the provision of programs and projects of education, training, counseling, research and other services;" and

     WHEREAS, during its 40-year history, MINACT, INC., has focused its efforts and resources on the training and development of youth in the Job Corps Program and providing quality support services to employers such as Nissan North America in Canton, Mississippi.  The evolution of the company as a prominent Job Corps Contractor and Support Services Provider is the natural result of the direction of MINACT, INC.'s Founder and President, Booker T. Jones.  Mr. Jones has worked in Job Corps from its inception, and has a deep appreciation for the needs and desires of the Job Corps clientele and for providing quality support services to employers.  As a result, in May 2007 Mr. Jones was inducted into the Mississippi Business Hall of Fame; and

     WHEREAS, MINACT, INC., has grown into a vigorous and viable business, currently employing approximately 1,485 individuals in the State of Mississippi and in the other states in which it has qualified to do and is doing business:  Michigan, Missouri, North Dakota, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Iowa and Tennessee; also having conducted business in Maryland, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Indiana, Vermont, Texas, Kentucky, Arizona and Minnesota; and

     WHEREAS, MINACT, INC.'s emergence as a force in government procurements and the Jackson, Mississippi, community was confirmed by the following awards:  United States Department of Labor's "Outstanding Minority Contractor of the Year, 1989"; Metro Jackson Chamber of Commerce's "Outstanding Business" awardee, 1991; National Job Corps Coalition, "Member of the Year"; 1997; Jackson Public Schools' "Golden Achievement Award" for outstanding partnership with Green Elementary School, 2002; Adopt-a-School Program; and Respect Our Black Dollar's "Sankofa Employer of the Year" Award, 2017:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize MINACT, INC., for 40 years of achievement and award-winning quality training and support services to the State of Mississippi.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Chief Executive Officer of MINACT, INC., forwarded to the Mississippi Development Authority, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
