A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE CONDOLENCES OF THE MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE TO THE BEREAVED FAMILY OF FORMER DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF INSURANCE FOR THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI CHARLES DAVIS PACE OF MADISON.

     WHEREAS, it is with sadness that we note the passing of Charles Davis Pace (70) of Madison, Mississippi, on June 23, 2017; and

     WHEREAS, Charles was born on January 30, 1947, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Thomas Marvin and Mary Mabry Pace.  Mr. Pace was a Corporate Director of Governmental Affairs at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi where he worked for 25 years.  He is the former Deputy Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, he served in the Mississippi Army National Guard for 28 years where he retired as Command Sergeant Major of the 213th Medical Brigade; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Pace lived a life of service, and his honors, awards and affiliations too numerous to list.  He was a longtime resident of Clinton, Mississippi, and an active member of Northside Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Madison.  He was a man of the utmost honor and integrity who loved God, family and country.  Charles will be missed forever by those who knew and loved him; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Pace is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy; daughters, Jennifer Gordy (Kyle) and Melissa Overholt (Trent); his favorite people, his grandchildren, Jack and Charlie Gordy, Jesse Merle Mabry and Walker Overholt; his brothers:  Joe Pace (Mabel), Tommy Pace (Patsy), Pete Walker (Denise) and Johnny Walker (Jean); and beloved nieces, nephews and a host of friends; and

     WHEREAS, he was a wonderful example for public servants and we commend his record of achievement and legacy of leadership and for this and for a lifetime of selfless service a grateful state thanks him:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby extend the condolences of the Mississippi Legislature to the bereaved family of former Deputy Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Mississippi Charles Davis Pace of Madison.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the surviving family of Charles Pace, forwarded to the Mississippi Commissioner of Insurance, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
