House Concurrent Resolution 41

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE MISSISSIPPI GAMING COMMISSION AND THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE JOINT LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE ON PERFORMANCE EVALUATION AND EXPENDITURE REVIEW TO DEVELOP A MAP INDICATING THE GEOGRAPHIC AREA ON THE MISSISSIPPI COAST THAT IS ELIGIBLE FOR LICENSED GAMING UNDER STATE LAW.

WHEREAS, determining if a potential licensed gaming location on the Mississippi Coast is within the geographic area allowed under state law currently requires an individual determination upon each request made to the Mississippi Gaming Commission; and

WHEREAS, efficiency and transparency would be improved if a map existed to determine eligibility of a proposed licensed gaming location on the Mississippi Coast; and

WHEREAS, the Executive Director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission and the Executive Director of the Joint Legislative Committee on Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review are best equipped at developing a map that will provide clarity and efficiency in determining if a potential licensed gaming location on the Mississippi Coast is within the geographic area eligible under state law; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to favor efficiency and transparency:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby request the Executive Director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission and the Executive Director of the Joint Legislative Committee on Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review to develop a map indicating the geographic area on the Mississippi Coast that is eligible for licensed gaming under state law.
