AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONVEY AND RELINQUISH TO THE T.C. CARTER, JR. POST NO. 21, DEPARTMENT OF MISSISSIPPI AMERICAN LEGION BY QUITCLAIM DEED THE REVERTER CLAUSE AS WELL AS CERTAIN OTHER INTERESTS THE CITY HOLDS IN CERTAIN AMERICAN LEGION PROPERTY AS LONG AS THE PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THE PROPERTY WILL PROVIDE CERTAIN BENEFITS TO THE CITY OF MERIDIAN; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The governing authorities of the City of Meridian, Mississippi, in their discretion, may convey and relinquish to the T.C. Carter, Jr. Post No. 21, Department of Mississippi American Legion by quitclaim deed the reverter clause, the reservation of all mineral interests and the requirement of prior approval of any buildings and improvements on the condition that the proceeds of the sale be used for the civic, social, educational, cultural, moral, economic or industrial welfare of the City of Meridian.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
