AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE ANY MUNICIPALITY, COUNTY OR POLITICAL SUBDIVISION TO ALLOW ITS LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TO USE NALOXONE OR A SIMILAR PRODUCT TO REVERSE THE EFFECTS OF A DRUG OVERDOSE WHILE ACTING IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR OFFICIAL DUTIES AS LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Any municipality, county or political subdivision of this state may authorize its law enforcement agency or department, while in the performance of their official duties as law enforcement officers, to administer using naloxone or a similar product approved by the Department of Public Safety for the purpose of reversing the effects of a drug overdose.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2018.
