AN ACT TO RENAME EITHER THE PUBLIC BUILDING IN JACKSON, HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, THE "WILLIAM LOWE (BILL) WALLER, SR., BUILDING"; TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE APPROPRIATE AGENCY HOUSED IN THE DESIGNATED BUILDING WHICH IS TO BE RENAMED TO ERECT THE PROPER LETTERING OR SIGNAGE ON THE OUTDOOR FACADE OF THE BUILDING DISPLAYING THE OFFICIAL NAME AS THE "WILLIAM LOWE (BILL) WALLER, SR., BUILDING"; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) One of the following state-owned buildings located within Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, and under the jurisdiction of the Department of Finance and Administration shall be renamed the "William Lowe (Bill) Waller, Sr., Building":
(a) The building located at 620 North Street, which houses the Mississippi Gaming Commission;
(b) The building located at 660 North Street, which houses several state agencies and boards;
(c) The building located at 700 North State Street, which houses the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality; or
(d) The building located at 359 North West Street, which was formerly the Central High School Building, which presently houses the State Department of Education.
(2) The Department of Finance and Administration shall prepare or have prepared a distinctive plaque, to be placed in a prominent place within the designated building, that states the background, accomplishments and service to the state of the Honorable William Lowe (Bill) Waller, Sr. The Department of Finance and Administration in conjunction with the appropriate agency housed in the designated building shall erect or cause to be erected proper lettering or signage on outdoor facade of the building displaying the official name of the building as the "William Lowe (Bill) Waller, Sr." Any and all funds necessary to accomplish this act will be appropriated by the Legislature for such purpose.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2018.
