House Resolution 88

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE 2016-2017 RETIREES OF THE GREENWOOD PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THEIR MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE.

     WHEREAS, the following persons have retired or announced their intentions to retire from the Greenwood Public School District during the 2016-2017 school year:  Carolyn Haley, First Grade Teacher, 44 years of service; Mildred Applewhite, Cafeteria Worker, 20 years of service; Freida Jordan, First Grade Teacher, 22 years of service; Amanda Schroeder, Third Grade Teacher, 27 years of service; Vandalue McGee, Special Education Teacher, 38 years of service; Melvin Cook, Assistant Principal, 32 years of service; Bessie Frison, Custodian, 12 years of service; Dorothy Randle, Counselor, 29 years of service; and Veranda Barnes, Secretary, 14 years of service; and

     WHEREAS, through tireless dedication and loving patience over many years, these treasured educators and staff members of the Greenwood Public School District have made Mississippi a better state by teaching, both in the classroom and as positive role models, the state's children to become productive, responsible citizens who will write the next chapter in the book of Mississippi's history; and

     WHEREAS, these priceless individuals have greatly contributed to the success of the Greenwood Public School District and will be sorely missed by the schools and offices in which they served; and

     WHEREAS, the citizens of Greenwood and the entire State of Mississippi owe an immeasurable debt to these retirees of the Greenwood Public School District as they enjoy the lighter days of their long-awaited retirement; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to respectfully acknowledge the 2016-2017 retirees of the Greenwood Public School District who, by laying a firm educational foundation on which untold numbers of Greenwood students may build their future success, have greatly benefited not only the individual lives of many, but the entire State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize, commend and congratulate the 2016-2017 retirees of the Greenwood Public School District and express to these dedicated educators and staff members our sincere appreciation for their selfless service in educating the youth of this state.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to each of the retirees named in this resolution, the Board of Trustees of the Greenwood Public School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
