A RESOLUTION MOURNING THE LOSS AND COMMEMORATING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MS. SADIE MAE CROSS.

WHEREAS, it is written in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that "To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the Heaven," and as such, the immaculate author and finisher of our soul's destiny summoned the mortal presence of dearly beloved, Ms. Sadie Mae Cross, to eternal rest, rendering great sorrow and loss to her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, the oldest of six children born to the late Isadore and Rosia Bell Spruell on May 25, 1931, Sadie Mae Cross confessed her faith in Christ at an early age at Holly Grove Baptist Church and later joined Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and she departed her old life on March 17, 2017, to begin celebrating her new life in Heaven; and

WHEREAS, she attended Leflore and Greenwood Public School Systems and worked for Baldwin Piano and Organ Company and later became a dedicated private sitter, a job in which she loved taking care of others, and she was family oriented and the love of her life was her children and grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, her favorite time of the year was Christmas, especially since her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved Christmas so much at Grandma Sadie's house, and they knew that she would have more than enough food, tons of Christmas trees, a lot of Santa Clauses and lights all over the house, as she won best yard Christmas decorations for three years; and

WHEREAS, her memory will continue to refresh the hearts and minds of her beloved survivors:  daughters, Dorothy Foster, Linda Course, Cherry Key Templeton, Patricia C. Hines, Sharon Carter and Carolyn Cross; siblings, Isadore Spruell and Cora Payton; grandchildren, Shanta Cross, Tori Montgomery, Tavarris Cross, Dario Carter, Winfred Moore, Christopher Moore, Dedrick Hines, Maureo Cross, Limarion Reaves, Sylvester Gosa, Dennis Templeton, Jr., Adrian Moore, Joshua Moore and Martez Montgomery; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends; and

WHEREAS, we encourage the family to find solace from the overwhelming sadness created by the earthly departure of their beloved family member in Revelation 21:4, wherein is recorded, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain:  for the former things are passed away" and renewed in their faith that Ms. Cross fulfilled the commandment of II Timothy 4:7, "by having fought a good fight, finishing her course and keeping the faith" until the hour of her departure was at hand; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the lives of fine Mississippians, especially those such as Ms. Sadie Mae Cross, a gracious woman who always put others before herself, loved her family and friends unconditionally, and worshipped the Lord God Almighty with all of her heart, bringing glory and honor to the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby mourn the loss and commemorate the life and legacy of Ms. Sadie Mae Cross, and express deepest sympathy to her family and friends upon her passing.
