House Resolution 69

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHPOINT CHRISTIAN SCHOOL LADY TROJANS BASKETBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE TENNESSEE DIVISION II-A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, Northpoint Christian School Lady Trojans Basketball Team now owns two consecutive Tennessee Division II-A State Championships after they defeated University School of Jackson 70-54 in the title game; and

WHEREAS, after a back and forth first quarter, the Lady Trojans built a 33-26 halftime lead and by the end of the third quarter their lead increased by 13 points and the Lady Trojans controlled the rest of the game to claim another gold ball; and

WHEREAS, this championship win capped off a truly impressive 29-2 season, and although there were several standout individual performances over the course of the season, the win was a culmination of hard work and team effort, with all players knowing their role and executing it perfectly; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Trojans championship team is comprised as follows: Gigi Richardson, McKinley Baker, Allie Enders, Hallie Goodwin, Ashtyn Baker, Micaela Brown, Hadie Sowell, Caroline Swmdoll, Mason Branning, Amara McKay, Lauren Gross, Hannah Shafer, Jade Wells and Lindsay Whiteside; Head Coach Barry Gray; Assistant Coaches, Ryan Richardson and Lindy Gray; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Trojans have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Barry Gray, who has broadened the Lady Trojans' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the superb accomplishments of Mississippi's student-athletes, especially those such as the Lady Trojans, whose excellence on and off the court brings honor to their school, their families and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northpoint Christian School Lady Trojans Basketball Team upon winning the Tennessee Division II-A State Championship for the second year in a row, and extend best wishes to the team and coaches for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Barry Gray on behalf of the team and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
