House Resolution 63

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. RUBY MCDANIEL UPON THE OCCASION OF HER 101 BIRTHDAY ON MARCH 3, 2017.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruby McDaniel was honored by friends and relatives on the grand occasion of her 101 birthday on March 3, 2017, memorializing a century of life experiences since her birth in Summit, Mississippi, on March 3, 1916; and

     WHEREAS, in 1940, Mrs. McDaniel married her husband, the late J.D. McDaniel, in McComb, Mississippi, and to this beloved union one child was born, Peggy Smith; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to her daughter Peggy, Mrs. McDaniel has three grandchildren, Kevin Smith, Kathy Smith Reed and Karen Smith Loden, and six great-grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, a Florence resident since 2007, Mrs. McDaniel worked many years for Kellwood Manufacturing Company in Fernwood, Mississippi, and in her spare time she always loved working in her yard and was a great seamstress; and

     WHEREAS, during a long and productive lifetime, Mrs. McDaniel has demonstrated in countless ways her dedication to the welfare of others and has earned the respect and affection of people from all walks of life and all ages; and

     WHEREAS, she has lived during the most eventful century of this world's history, and in her own way has been a force for good and a stabilizing influence on those around her during these years; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the life milestones of fine Mississippians, such as Mrs. McDaniel, whose 101 birthday will serve as an inspiration for all:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby congratulate Mrs. Ruby McDaniel upon the occasion of her 101 birthday, and extend best wishes for continued peace, joy and prosperity.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Ruby McDaniel, her daughter Peggy Smith and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
