AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO DISPLAY THE PLACEMENT OF CERTAIN SPECIALTY SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF HIGHWAYS 25 AND 43, IN RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO WELCOME INDIVIDUALS TO THE COMMUNITY OF SANDHILL, MISSISSIPPI, AND TO ACKNOWLEDGE A CERTAIN OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL RECIPIENT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (a)  The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County, Mississippi, is authorized, in its discretion, to welcome individuals to the Community of Sandhill, Mississippi, by displaying a specially-designed street sign in the public right-of-way on Mississippi Highway 25, near the northbound and southbound approaches to the intersection of Mississippi Highway 25 and Mississippi Highway 43.

          (b)  The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County, Mississippi, is further authorized, in its discretion, to acknowledge a winner of an Olympic gold medal won at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, by erecting and displaying a specially-designed street sign in the public right-of-way on Mississippi Highway 25, near the northbound and southbound approaches to the intersection of Mississippi Highway 25 and Mississippi Highway 43.

          (c)  The signs authorized in paragraphs (a) and (b) of this section shall be:

              (i)  Mounted one above the other and on a single mounting structure;

              (ii)  Not less than twenty-five (25) square feet and not more than forty (40) square feet in total surface area;                 (iii)  Maintained by Rankin County; and

              (iv)  Funded by Rankin County.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
