House Bill 1555

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CITY OF COLUMBIA AND MARION COUNTY TO ASSIST THE CITY IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH MAKING IMPROVEMENTS TO CITY ROADS, STREETS AND BRIDGES, AND TO ASSIST THE COUNTY IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH MAKING IMPROVEMENTS TO THE COLUMBIA-MARION COUNTY AIRPORT AND IN PAYING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH MAKING IMPROVEMENTS TO COUNTY ROADS, STREETS AND BRIDGES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2018.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the City of Columbia, Mississippi, and Marion County, Mississippi, to assist the city and the county with the projects described in Section 2 of this act for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017, and ending June 30, 2018............................ $ 9,000,000.00.

SECTION 2. The monies appropriated by Section 1 of this act shall be distributed as follows:

(a) To the City of Columbia, Mississippi, to assist the city in paying costs associated with the repair, rehabilitation, resurfacing, construction and reconstruction of city roads, streets and bridges $ 2,000,000.00.

(b) To Marion County, Mississippi, to assist the county in paying costs associated with planning, design, construction, repair, rehabilitation, renovation, replacement, furnishing, equipping, expansion of and additions and other improvements to infrastructure, buildings, facilities and other property at the Columbia-Marion County Airport in Marion County..................................................

................................................ $ 2,000,000.00.

(c) To Marion County, Mississippi, to assist the county in paying costs associated with the repair, rehabilitation, resurfacing, construction and reconstruction of county roads, streets and bridges $ 5,000,000.00.

SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2017.
