AN ACT TO REQUIRE COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE TRAFFIC TO TRAVEL IN THE RIGHT-HAND LANE WHEN TRAVELING ON A CERTAIN SEGMENT OF U.S. HIGHWAY 49 IN RANKIN COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  All commercial motor vehicle traffic shall travel in the right-hand lane when traveling on the segment of U.S. Highway 49 located in Rankin County from its intersection with Eagle Post Road to its intersection with Kroger Drive except when the vehicle is making a left-hand turn, is in an emergency situation or is required to travel in the left-hand lane by state law.

     (2)  The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs, as determined by the department, along and approaching the segment of highway described in subsection (1) of this section, which shall instruct all commercial motor vehicles to travel in the right-hand lane.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2017.
