A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND SENATOR KENNETH WAYNE JONES FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE IN THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE.
WHEREAS, Senator Kenneth Wayne Jones has represented Senate District 21, which includes portions of Attala, Holmes, Madison and Yazoo Counties, for eight years. In Kenneth Wayne Jones, the citizens of Canton and District 21 have had effective representation from a dedicated public servant with business experience; and
WHEREAS, Senator Jones was elected to the Senate in 2008 and was recognized by his fellow-Senators by his nomination and election as Chairman of the Mississippi Legislative Black Caucus; and
WHEREAS, Kenny Wayne was a retired member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He and his wife, Bobby, have two children, Kennedy and William. He was an active Mason, and an alumni of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Senator Jones was particularly interested in employee wellness programs and served on the following committees: Chairman of the Interstate and Federal Cooperation; Constitution; Environmental Protection; Conservation and Water Resources; Executive Contingent Fund; Finance; Insurance; Municipalities; and Public Health and Welfare; and
WHEREAS, Senator Jones' service has been marked by his commitment to success and recognized leadership, sound judgment, civility, courtesy and fairness. He has set the highest standard in all of his many roles: husband, father, businessman, statesman, community leader and leader in the Mississippi Senate, and as a true friend. Kenny Wayne's service honored both the Mississippi Senate and this great State that he loved and served:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and recognize Senator Kenny Wayne Jones, whose outstanding service enriched everyone with whom he was associated, and we wish Kenny Wayne and his family much success in his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Senator Kenny Wayne Jones and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
