A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND SENATE SENATOR STEVE HALE FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE IN THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE.

     WHEREAS, Senator Steve Hale has represented Senate District 10, which includes portions of Panola and Tate Counties, for four years.  In Steve Hale, the citizens of District 10 have had effective representation from a dedicated public servant with business experience; and

     WHEREAS, Senator Hale served as Director of Tate County Planning Commission, Senatobia Alderman, and Mayor of Senatobia.  Past Director of Mississippi Municipal Association; past Director of North Delta Planning and Development Incorporated; Former Executive Director of Mississippi Development Authority.  Prior to his Senate service, Hale earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Mississippi State University.  His professional experience includes working for Hale Lumber Company, a small family owned business started by his grandfather; and

     WHEREAS, Steve Hale served on the following committees:  Economic Development, Vice Chair; Accountability, Efficiency and Transparency; Education; Finance; Investigate State Offices; Judiciary Division A; and Universities and Colleges.  During his tenure, he focused on the following campaign theme:  passion for a strong education system.  As former head of Mississippi's lead economic development agency, he understood the impact that a trained and educated workforce within our state has on prospective employers, both from existing and new businesses.  Education and job creation should go hand in hand; and

     WHEREAS, Senator Hale was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on March 28, 1954.  He is married to the former Cindy Rials.  They have two children, Jennifer Hale Brunetti and Jay Hale, and two grandchildren, Aiden and Elizabeth Ann Brunetti.  His religious affiliation is Baptist; and

     WHEREAS, Senator Steve Hale's service has been marked by his commitment to success and recognized leadership, sound judgment, civility, courtesy and fairness.  He has set the highest standard in all of his many roles:  husband, father, businessman, statesman, community leader and leader in the Mississippi Senate, and as a true friend.  Steve's service honored both the Mississippi Senate and this great State that he loved and served:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and recognize Senator Steve Hale, whose outstanding service enriched everyone with whom he was associated, and we wish Steve and his family much success in his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Senator Steve Hale and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
