A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL HONOR STUDENT MARGARET GRACE POST FOR BEING AWARDED THE TITLE OF "MISS MISSISSIPPI'S OUTSTANDING TEEN 2015."

     WHEREAS, Margaret Grace Post is an all "A" honor roll student attending Madison Central High School where she is currently a junior.  She is the 17-year-old daughter of Jim and Elizabeth Post of Madison, Mississippi, and was crowned "Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen 2015" on June 4, 2015; and

     WHEREAS, Grace won her preliminary pageant as Miss Central Mississippi's Outstanding Teen to qualify to compete for the coveted title of Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen 2015.  In competition with 23 other local titleholders, Grace won the title of Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen 2015 in her first year of competition and was awarded a $5,000.00 scholarship.  She was a contestant representing Mississippi at Miss America's Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant in Orlando, Florida; and

     WHEREAS, during her high school years Grace has been active in the Student Government Association, Interact Community Service Club, Beta Club, Diamond Girls and Mystix Dance Team.  During her freshman year of high school she was Captain of the Junior Mystix Dance Team at Rosa Scott School.  Grace was inducted into the National Honor Society her junior year and earned the honor of being invited to be a member of Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society.  Grace was elected Class Favorite her junior year; and

     WHEREAS, active in her community, Grace was chosen to serve as a Junior Ambassador for Madison, the City Chamber of Commerce and selected to the Youth Ambassador Council for the Mississippi Children's Museum.  She also was a sub-debutante her sophomore year for the Mississippi Symphony League.  Grace is an active member of her Parish, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she is a Hospitality Minister; and

     WHEREAS, Grace has actively promoted her platform "Get Up and Get Moving!" as Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen to educate and help people of all ages to become physically fit and lead a healthy lifestyle by helping them find activities to stay active with a focus on fun.  She has volunteered at the Mississippi Children's Museum teaching dance, held a "Tutus and Tennis Shoes" fitness event for 90 children and held a Zumba exercise class to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network; and

     WHEREAS, during her reign Grace has emceed local Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen Preliminary Pageants, attended Blair Batson Children's Hospital patient birthday parties, addressed the Madison Chamber of Commerce, led the children's fun run at Governor Bryant's Run for your Colors 5K, performed at a Mississippi State Basketball Game and the Miss MSU 2016 Pageant, was a celebrity reader at Madison Avenue Upper Elementary for Read Across America Day, read to second graders at Bowmar Elementary School, performed at New Horizon Church Malawi fundraiser, was Co-Grand Marshal for the City of Madison's Christmas Parade, and performed a ballet variation en pointe at the 2015 Miss Mississippi Pageant; and

     WHEREAS, Grace has been a senior company member of Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet and performed in its annual production of The Nutcracker Ballet and numerous other productions over the past nine years; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize a young Mississippi citizen who has brought honor to her family, her school, her community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Madison Central High School honor student Margaret Grace Post for being awarded the title of "Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen 2015," and extend our best wishes to Grace and her family for future successes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Margaret Grace Post, forwarded to the Principal of Madison Central High school and the Madison County Board of Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
