Senate Concurrent Resolution 671

(As Adopted by Senate)

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MADISON CENTRAL "JAGUARS" BOYS SOCCER TEAM AND THE MADISON CENTRAL "LADY JAGUARS" GIRLS SOCCER TEAM AND COACH CECIL HINDS FOR MULTIPLE CONSECUTIVE CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

WHEREAS, in what has become a DYNASTY in Mississippi High School Soccer, the Madison Central High School "Lady Jaguars" Girls Soccer Team finished the 2016 season undefeated and won their third consecutive Class 6A State Championship, and the Madison Central High School "Jaguars" Boys Soccer Team finished the 2016 season winning their fourth consecutive Class 6A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Class 6A Girls Soccer Championship was destined to be a defensive battle with the top two scoring defenses and the only unbeaten teams remaining in the state.  It took overtime, but when the final whistle blew, freshman Cady Lloyd's goal less than three minutes into the first overtime period lifted Madison Central to a 1-0 victory over Brandon at Clinton High School on February 6, 2016, as the "Lady Jaguars" won their third championship in a row and eight overall; and

WHEREAS, Madison Central Girls Soccer Team finished the season 22-0-1, "Dynasty is out there," said Madison Central Coach Cecil Hinds.  "This is their first time finishing undefeated.  Things went our way, got a goal, and victory itself is enough for us and the State Championship.  But definitely an undefeated season is icing on the cake."  The "Lady Jaguars" played most of the game on Brandon's side of the field; and

WHEREAS, Coach Cecil Hinds grinned as he hung medals on his boys soccer team players' necks following the February 6, 2016, 1-0 win over Ocean Springs in the Class 6A Championship.  "What an incredible night," Hinds said.  "To have two teams win championships in overtime.  It's draining, emotionally and physically, but I couldn't be prouder of all our players"; and

WHEREAS, it took overtime, but the Madison Central Boys "Jaguars" 19-3-2 win notched a fourth-straight State Championship thanks to a goal by senior forward Zach Bailey, who headed in a corner kick by Parker Trawick with two minutes left in the first period of overtime.  It was the third straight playoff game to go into overtime for Madison Central; and

WHEREAS, the Madison Central "Lady Jaguars" Girls 2016 Soccer Championship Team Roster is:  Caroline Runion, Allie Grace Borst, Cady Lloyd, Maggie Overby, Elle Muirhead, Carley Ahlrich, Anna Blocker, Reagan Johnson, Sydney Hodges, Isabella Wade, Sarah Chastain, Jami Ahlrich, Alex Parker, Mary Eliza McCarley, Kate Russell Snopek, Tay Cavett, Kim Hardy, Cara Dale Palmer, Cameron Miller, Madison Deslatte, Emily Ledoux, Scarlett Hodges, Caitlyn Klauser, Ashton Reeves, Mary Michael Evans, Camille Summerlin, Garland Carmichael, Mary Carolyn Nichols, Mary Grace Winston, Kaci Wilcox, Kailyn Gardner, Abby Wright, Lucy Cavett, Caroline Parker, Maggie McKinnis, Sloan Powell, Rachel Staehling, Sara Martin Meyers and Holland Meyers; Head Coach Cecil Hinds; Assistant Coach Ashley Davis and Volunteer Coach Leonard Swilley; and
