A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE MISSISSIPPI PUBLIC EMPLOYEES CREDIT UNION AND COMMENDING ITS MISSION OF ECONOMIC SERVICE TO ITS MEMBERS.
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Public Employees Credit Union was chartered August 22, 1966, as the State Offices Credit Union. The name was changed in June of 1993 to better reflect the membership; and
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Public Employees Credit Union has now grown to over 6,000 members, with more than $22 Million in assets. It serves federal, state and local government employees throughout Mississippi, and offers full range of financial services. The credit union is governed by a seven-member volunteer board of directors, elected by the membership; and
WHEREAS, as part of the shared branching network, its members may conduct business at more than 5,400 locations nationwide. As a nonprofit credit union, Mississippi Public Employees Credit Union exists to help people. Owned by its members, the credit union exists to serve its member/owners, so earnings are returned to the owners in the form of lower loan rates, higher interest rates on deposits, and lower fees; and
WHEREAS, Mississippi Public Employees Credit Union offers a host of financial needs: Savings/Checking Accounts; Share/Savings Accounts; Christmas Club Accounts; Vacation Club Accounts; EZ Living Club Accounts; Credit Builder Savings Plan; Share Draft/Checking Accounts; Courtesy Pay Overdraft Plan; Term Shares (CD) Accounts; FREE Home Banking with Free Check Images; FREE Bill Payment; Signature Loans; Share Secured Loans; New & Used Auto Loans; Boat Loans; RV Loans; Lines of Credit; Overdraft Protection Lines of Credit; Payment Protection Plans; GAP Protection Plan; Extended Warranties; Car Fax Reports; VISA Credit Cards; VISA ATM/Debit Cards; Visa Debit Gift Cards; 24/7 Home Banking and Bill Payment-FREE; Electronic Statements; 24/7 Telephone Banking; Direct Deposit/Payroll Deduction; Notary Public; Financial Counseling; Money Orders; Wire Transfers; and Financial Counseling Services; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we join the members of this nonprofit Credit Union in noting this achievement:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the Mississippi Public Employees Credit Union and commend its mission of economic service to its members, and extend the best wishes of the Legislature on this achievement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Public Employees Credit Union and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
