A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE DESOTO COUNTY CENTER HILL HIGH SCHOOL DANCE TEAM FOR WINNING THE MHSAA CLASS 5A HIP HOP STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR.

     WHEREAS, for the second consecutive year, the Center Hill High School Dance Team has been crowned the 5A Hip Hop State Champions, claiming the Mississippi High School Activities Association State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the Center Hill group has become a leader in competitive dance, not only in DeSoto County and the State of Mississippi, but in the nation; and

     WHEREAS, "This is the seventh year total that we've won this," said Center Hill High School Dance Team Sponsor Kerry Matthews.  The team has also competed in the Universal Dance Association's Nationals in Orlando, Florida; and

     WHEREAS, the students learn from the best in the business.  Matthews grew up in Upstate New York and then Oklahoma.  However, Matthews is quick to credit Center Hill High School Dance Coach Hannah Mills, who does all the choreography.  She was a Dance Major at the University of Memphis; and

     WHEREAS, members of the Center Hill High School Dance Team are:  Devyn Baker, Daniella Davis, Keely Grady, Alyssa Hadley, Kaitlyn Harrison, Kenzie Heidenreick, Hanna Jenkins, Yana Jones, Kayley Loggins, Sloan McClatchy, Becka Matthews, Madelyn Miller, Niyah Odum, Jernasha Riley, Brittnie Sandridge, Jordan Sandridge and Hannah Savage; and it is with great pride that we recognize this group of students who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the DeSoto County Center Hill High School Dance Team for winning the MHSAA Class 5A Hip Hop State Championship for the second consecutive year and extend the best wishes of the Legislature for future success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to DeSoto County Center Hill High School Dance Coach Hannah Mills, forwarded to Principal Doug Payne and the DeSoto County Board of Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
