AN ACT TO EXEMPT CERTAIN HUNTING LICENSE RECORDS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS FROM THE MISSISSIPPI PUBLIC RECORDS ACT OF 1983; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  Except as otherwise provided in this section, the records of the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks relating to applications for licenses issued under this chapter that authorize hunting and records related to holders of licenses issued under this chapter that authorize hunting shall be exempt from the provisions of the Mississippi Public Records Act of 1983, and shall be released only upon order of a court having proper jurisdiction over a petition for release of the record or records.

     (2)  The records specified in subsection (1) of this section shall be available, upon request, to all law enforcement agencies.

     SECTION 2.  Section 1 of this act shall be codified in Chapter 7, Title 49, Mississippi Code of 1972.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
