AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 73-25-35, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT COLLABORATIVE AGREEMENTS BETWEEN NURSE PRACTITIONERS AND LICENSED PHYSICIANS FOR PROVIDING SERVICES IN ANY CLINICAL SETTING SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL LICENSURE WITHOUT REGARD TO DISTANCE RESTRICTIONS FROM THE PRIMARY PRACTICE LOCATION OF THE PRIMARY PRACTICE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 73-25-35, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     73-25-35.  Registered nurses who are licensed and certified by the Mississippi Board of Nursing as nurse practitioners * * *are not prohibited from such nursing practice, but are entitled to engage therein without a physician's license. shall be authorized to practice in any clinical setting under the general supervision of a licensed physician under a collaborative relationship approved by the State Board of Medical Licensure wherein patients are treated by the nurse practitioner without requirement to be a certain distance from the primary office of the collaborative physician.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2016.
