A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. KIM JORDAN UPON RECEIVING A LEO W. SEAL INNOVATIVE TEACHER GRANT.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Kim Jordan, a teacher at College Park Elementary School, in Gautier, Mississippi, received a Leo W. Seal Innovative Teacher Grant, in recognition for her exceptional teaching and emphasis on innovation in the classroom; and

WHEREAS, the Leo W. Seal Innovative Teacher Grant provides $2,000.00 to help fund projects that bring school projects to life, molding students into well-rounded adults, ready for the world's many challenges; and

WHEREAS, 2016 is the 20th year Hancock Bank has funded the Leo W. Seal Grant, Hancock Bank Mississippi Regional President Keith Williams expressed pride in recognizing extraordinary educators like Mrs. Jordan, who do not only help students learn, but strive to make sure the students experience what they learn in real life applications to further their understanding and prepare themselves for life after graduation; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Jordan began her teaching career at Gautier Middle School in January of 2005, teaching creative writing, in 2008 she became a gifted teacher and has taught IDEAS classes since that time, IDEAS stands for intellectual development and enrichment for advanced students; and

WHEREAS, in only her first year at College Park Elementary, Mrs. Jordan earned the Leo W. Seal Innovative Teacher Grant, while teaching her IDEAS class about the world around them, soliciting videos from around the world with people from different countries describing themselves and their daily lives but not naming the country they are from, Mrs. Jordan's students piece together the puzzle, learning where each video originated by studying its intricacies, developing a greater appreciation of the world on a global scale; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize excellence in educators like that of Mrs. Jordan, whose exceptional teaching approach brings her subjects to life before her student's eyes, instilling in them a desire to learn and grow into the leaders of tomorrow, her innovative work brings great pride and honor to her school, her community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Kim Jordan, upon receiving the Leo W. Seal Innovative Teacher Grant, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Kim Jordan, College Park Elementary School Principal Suzanne Ros and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
