A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE INDOOR WINTER GUARD UPON WINNING THE 2016 MISSISSIPPI INDOOR ASSOCIATION GUARD CHAMPIONSHIPS.

     WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 2, 2016, the Northeast Mississippi Community College Indoor Winter Guard won the Mississippi Indoor Association Guard Championships, earning them a permanent place in their school's history as they earned the first place trophy for the third consecutive year; and

     WHEREAS, in only its fifth year of existence, the Northeast Mississippi Community College Indoor Winter Guard has established itself as the premier collegiate indoor winter guard troupe within the Mississippi Indoor Association circuit, earning first place in four of the five championships held by the MIA; and

     WHEREAS, 2016 proved to be another dominant year for the troupe as they won first place in every category in the competition, beating STATEment, Spyntropy and the Pearl River Community College Winter Guard in the University A category; and

     WHEREAS, under the direction of Northeast Assistant Director of Bands Amy Langley, the indoor winter guard beat its nearest competition by more than four points, earning one of the highest scores recorded by any of the 60 indoor winter guards that performed at the Mississippi Indoor Association State event; and

     WHEREAS, the championship winning troupe includes:  Hayley Schrock, Bryson Edge, Amber Anglin, Summer Brady, Claudia Aguilar, Lakin Jones, Megan Kimble, Angelina Meeks, Ilyssa Claxton, Mary Katherine Bonilla, Brooke Roaten, Allison Wilson, Savannah Wallace, Maecy Rinehart, Kimberly Michael and Amber Allen; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize outstanding accomplishments like that of the Northeast Mississippi Community College Indoor Winter Guard, who have brought honor to their school, their community and the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northeast Mississippi Community College Indoor Winter Guard upon winning the Mississippi Indoor Association Guard Championships, and extend best wishes to the troupe for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Northeast Mississippi Community College Assistant Director of Bands Amy Langley, Northeast Mississippi Community College President Ricky G. Ford and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
