House Resolution 77

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE OXFORD HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER TEAM UPON WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, on February 6, 2016, the Oxford High School Girls Soccer Team won the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 5A State Championship, earning the team and its members an enduring position in the annals of the school's accomplished history; and

WHEREAS, the Oxford High School Lady Chargers punctuated an excellent 20-5 season by defeating West Harrison High School Hurricanes by a score of 2-1, to take home the coveted Class 5A state championship trophy; and

WHEREAS, led by Head Coach Hunter Crane, the Lady Chargers arrived at Madison Central High School full of intensity and ready to bring the championship trophy home to Oxford, Mississippi, for the first time in the school's history; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Chargers championship roster includes: Captains Zoe Scruggs, Jordyn Repka, Anna Dennis and Madisyn Longnecker; team members Anna Kate Trost, Catherine Field, Mary Gough, Dayton Smith, Mary Emma Boyd, Sarah Nash, Grace Joyce, Addison Meadows, Olivia Rychlak, Morgan O'Connor, Faridah Salau, Sarah Valentine, Bailey O'Connor, Gigi Yoste, Addie Thompson, Ruthie Jenkins, Katelyn Rock, Sylvia Culpepper, Michelle Reid, Ally Shinall, Maria Jones, Anna Abel, Nicole Wilkins, Emily Hayward, Addison Mills, Miriam Reid, Maggie Sudduth, Wesley Warrington and Mary Kate Perkins; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the achievements of student athletes such as the Oxford High School Lady Chargers Soccer Team who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Oxford High School Lady Chargers Soccer Team upon an outstanding season and for capturing the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 5A State Championship, and extend best wishes to the team and coaches for continued success in all their future athletic and academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Hunter Crane, Oxford High School Principal Bradley Roberson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
