A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE GREENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL BULLDOGS FOOTBALL TEAM UPON COMPLETING AN EXCELLENT SEASON.

     WHEREAS, the 2015 Greenwood High School Bulldogs Football Team completed an excellent 12-2 season, making back to back North State Championship appearances and earning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 4A Region 3A District Championship; and

     WHEREAS, over the course of the last three seasons few teams rival the success achieved by the Greenwood High School Bulldogs, who have amassed a 33-7 record and won the MHSAA Class 4A Region 3A District Title in all three of those seasons; and

     WHEREAS, in 2015 the Greenwood Bulldogs continued their dominance, defeating their opponents by a combined score of 403-99, averaging over 40 points and gaining over 450 yards a game; the Bulldogs left little doubt in the minds of spectators and opponents alike that they meant business; and

     WHEREAS, the Bulldogs' roster includes a host of players earning individual honors and accolades, including:  Offensive Player of the Year, Demarius Ray; First Team All-District players, Jermarcus Weatherall, Javion Jones, Rico Owens, Tyler Glass, Danny Nevels, Kryosalum Clark, and Edwin Gray; Second Team All-District players, JohnDerrick Smith, Tarren Smith, Antwoine Williams, Jaylen Stanley, Cortaveon Mack and JaKaiszer Glass; and

     WHEREAS, The Greenwood Commonwealth recognized Marquiss Spencer as the All-Commonwealth Player of the Year; Greenwood players earning First Team All-Commonwealth honors include:  Jemarcus Weatherall, Javion Jones, Tyler Glass, Danny Nevels, Demarius Ray, Rico Owens, Edwin Gray, JohnDerrick Smith, Antwoine Williams, Tarren Smith, and JaKaiszer Glass; with Carl Jones, Jaylen Stanley, Arcodes West and LaDereck Noral earning Second Team All-Commonwealth honors; and

     WHEREAS, leading the Greenwood Bulldogs on and off the field is Head Coach Clinton Gatewood, who earned the 2015 Class 4A Region 3A Coach of the Year Award, in addition to being recognized as the All-Commonwealth Coach of the Year; and

     WHEREAS, the Greenwood Bulldogs' talented roster includes: Damarius Ray, Mukyron McBride, Tyler Glass, Carldaryl Johnson, Dequon Davis, Kenderrick Foreman, Jemarcus Weatherall, Jaylen Stanley, Javion Jones, Cortaveon Mack, Carl Jones, Jalen Stanley, Danny Nevels, Derrick Prayer, Kendrick Blossom, Rico Owens, Tranleson Tribblett, Ladarius Robinson, Mario Smith, Antavious Brown, Lavell Nelson, JohnDerrick Smith, Markhavious Washington, Thomas Smith, Maurice Metcalf, Trayvion Whittaker, Demargo Tate, Vontedric Gary, Walter Ivory, Denarius Johnson, LaDereck Noral and Marquiss Spencer, Darren Gilbert, Antwione Williams, Tarren Smith, Marquadain King, TyQuan McClee, Cortavius Hoskin, Timothy Morris, Denarius Greenleaf, Marcus McDaniel, Quenterrius Banks, Joshua Hammond, JaKaiszer Glass, Kryroslum Clark, Charles Brooks, Zyrian Carradine, Brandon Henry, Christopher O'Bryant, Arcodes West, Edwin Gray, Tyler Swims, Valdemir Beverly and Christian Henderson; and

     WHEREAS, assisting Head Coach Clinton Gatewood in preparing the Bulldogs to be their best:  Offensive Coordinator Carey Weaver; Offensive Line Coaches Richard Reese and Eric Hill; Running Back Coaches David McIntyre and Marcus West; Quarterback Coach Carey Weaver; Wide Receiver Coaches Cary Weaver and Otis Johnson; Defensive Coordinator Jimmie Stanford; Defensive Line Coaches Jimmie Stanford and Hal Haney; Linebacker Coaches Willie Branch and Theodore Davis and Defensive Back Coach Fredric Ford; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the achievements of student athletes such as  the players on the Greenwood High School Bulldogs Football Team who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Greenwood High School Bulldogs Football Team for completing an outstanding 12-win season, winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 4A Region 3A District Championship, and extend best wishes to the team and coaches for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Greenwood High School Football Head Coach Clinton Gatewood, Greenwood High School Principal Dr. Lorita Harris and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
