AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF PETAL, MISSISSIPPI, TO DISPLAY THE PLACEMENT OF CERTAIN SPECIALTY STREET SIGNS ALONG CERTAIN HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (a)  The governing authorities of the City of Petal, Mississippi, are authorized, in their discretion, to display support for the Petal Municipal Separate School District by displaying specially-designed street signs at certain points along U.S. Highway 11 and Mississippi Highway 42, also known as the Evelyn Gandy Parkway, within the corporate limits of the municipality.

     (b)  The signs authorized in paragraph (a) of this section shall:

          (i)  Be placed in specially-designated street locations along the highways prescribed in paragraph (a); and

          (ii)  Be of the following design:  a combination of red, black and white colors, featuring the official logo of the Petal School District on the corner of the signs.

     (c)  The signs authorized under this section shall be funded  by the Petal Education Foundation and other private donations.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
