AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 99-19-35, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO ALLOW PERSONS WHO ARE CONVICTED OF CERTAIN CRIMES TO PRACTICE MEDICINE OR DENTISTRY AGAIN AFTER THE PERSON'S LICENSE HAS BEEN REINSTATED BY THE STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL LICENSURE OR THE STATE BOARD OF DENTAL EXAMINERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 99-19-35, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     99-19-35.  A person convicted of bribery, burglary, theft, arson, obtaining money or goods under false pretenses, perjury, forgery, embezzlement, or bigamy, shall not be allowed to practice medicine or dentistry, or be appointed to hold or perform the duties of any office of profit, trust, or honor, unless after full pardon for the same, or, in the case of a person seeking to practice medicine or dentistry, after the person's license to practice medicine has been reinstated by the Board of Medical Licensure under Section 73-25-32 or the person's license to practice dentistry has been reinstated by the State Board of Dental Examiners under Section 73-9-115.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2016.
