AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO ENTER INTO CERTAIN ROAD IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CONTRACTS MAY EXTEND BEYOND 30 DAYS FROM THE TERMINATION AND END OF THE TERM OF OFFICE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AWARDING THE CONTRACTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Board of Supervisors of Lafayette County, Mississippi, is authorized, in its discretion, to receive competitive bids and enter into construction contracts for the Sisk Avenue Extension to Highway 6 Project and the West Oxford Loop Extension Project as the projects are described in the Regional Economic Development Act Agreement made and entered into on November 6, 2014, by and between the City of Oxford, Mississippi, and Lafayette County, Mississippi.

     (2)  The Board of Supervisors of Lafayette County may enter into contracts as authorized in this section for any length of time as may be determined by the board of supervisors regardless of whether the contracts may extend beyond thirty (30) days from the termination and end of the term of office of the members of the board of supervisors awarding the contracts.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
