AN ACT TO CREATE NEW SECTION 75-27-114, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS USED AS MOTOR FUEL SHALL BE SOLD IN DIESEL GALLON EQUIVALENTS, AND COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS USED AS MOTOR FUEL SHALL BE SOLD IN GASOLINE GALLON EQUIVALENTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The following shall be codified as Section 75-27-114, Mississippi Code of 1972:

     75-27-114.  Notwithstanding any provision within this chapter to the contrary, natural gas motor fuels shall be sold as follows:

          (a)  Liquefied natural gas motor fuel shall be sold in diesel gallon equivalents defined as 6.06 pounds of liquefied natural gas; provided, however, that if the National Conference of Weights and Measures establishes a different definition of diesel gallon equivalent, such definition shall be used.

          (b)  Compressed natural gas motor fuel shall be sold in gasoline gallon equivalents.  A gasoline gallon equivalent of CNG shall be defined as 5.660 pounds; provided, however, that if the National Conference on Weights and Measures establishes a different definition of gasoline gallon equivalent, such definition shall be used.

          (c)  Notwithstanding the preceding, a gasoline gallon equivalent unit of compressed natural gas that is supplied to a natural gas dispenser from liquefied natural gas that is stored on-site at the fueling station shall be set at 5.370 pounds; provided, however, that if the National Conference on Weights and Measures establishes a different definition of a gasoline gallon equivalent of CNG made from LNG, such definition shall be used.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2015.
