A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MS. GRACE MUNRO ON HER OUTSTANDING AND MONUMENTAL ACHIEVEMENTS AS A YOUNG PERSON AND WISH HER GREAT SUCCESS IN HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

     WHEREAS, Ms. Grace Elizabeth Munro is an outstanding young lady who has made many impressive accomplishments at a young age; and

     WHEREAS, a sweetheart of the Legislature, she sang the National Anthem on the first day of the 2015 Legislative Session and is currently a Senate Page, sponsored by Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves; and

     WHEREAS, she has previously served as a Mississippi House of Representatives Page, sponsored by Representative Jeffrey Guice; and

     WHEREAS, she is currently a senior at Ocean Springs High School, where she has earned her place on the Principal's List, the National Technical Honor Society, where she was president, and the National Honor Society; and

     WHEREAS, as a senior, she was crowned Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen 2014, Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen Scholastic Winner, earned the National Math and Science Initiative Award, and was an Ambassador/Mentor Member, a Member of the Gulf Coast Youth Leadership, and nominated for the Congress of Future Medical Leaders; and

     WHEREAS, during her junior year, she also earned her way onto the Principal's List, the National Technical Honor Society (president), the National Honor Society, and won Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen Scholastic Winner, was Nominated for the Congressional Youth Leadership Council and was a member of Singing River Electric Youth Leadership; and

     WHEREAS, during her sophomore year, she was on the Principal's List, was nominated for the Congressional Youth Leadership Council, National Technical Honor Society (vice president); and

     WHEREAS, during her freshman year, she was on the Principal's List and nominated for the Congressional Youth Leadership Council; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to her outstanding academic achievements, she also is very active in a number of extracurricular activities, such as captain of the dance team, the Electric Power Association Youth Leadership Tour, Student to Student Club member, where she has served as vice president and secretary, Mu Alpha Theta, Diamond Girls, of which she is the founding member and captain, Health Occupation Students of America, Student Council member, Ocean Springs High School Cheer Competition Team, Junior Varsity Cheerleader (captain), Student Council Class President, and Kelli's Steps Dance/Competitive Dancer; and

     WHEREAS, this ambitious and talented young lady has earned numerous honors such as, Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen 2014, Miss Congeniality winner, Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen Interview winner, Miss Mississippi Outstanding 2014 Evening Gown winner, Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen 2013, Top Ten, the Lions Club of Mississippi Camellia Queen, the Dance Educators of America, National Overall Soloist winner, where she received a scholarship to the Las Vegas Ballet Company; and

     WHEREAS, she has also won other titles such as, Access Broadway Regional Overall Scholarship winner, Ocean Springs High School Greyhound Idol winner, earned the lead role of Sandy in "Grease" (Kelli's Steps School of Dance), the lead role of Scout in "To Kill A Mockingbird," the Lead Role of Annie in DMI's "Annie Jr.", The Pulse Regional Winner, the NYCDA Regional Scholarship winner, the Contest of Champions, National Overall Trio winner, and the Hugh O'Brian, Ocean Springs High School Top Female recipient; and

     WHEREAS, in spite of her rigorous academic and social schedule, she still has found time to volunteer in her community by creating a nonprofit organization entitled, "Breaking Barriers"; and

     WHEREAS, her organization provides a healthy environment for teens to form productive relationships, helps students construct fun activities for children with disabilities, and helps hospitalized children throughout their recovery; and

     WHEREAS, upon graduation from high school, she plans to attend the University of Mississippi, to become an occupational therapist because she has a passion to help others; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend outstanding youth, who are stellar academic students as well as stellar community advocates who work hard to improve their communities:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Grace Elizabeth Munro on her outstanding and monumental achievements as a young person and wish her great success in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Grace Elizabeth Munro and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
