A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE REMARKABLE LEGACY OF MINISTERIAL EXCELLENCE OF REVEREND MELVIN J. WILLIAMS, SR., UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS 29TH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF SPRINGHILL CHRISTIAN CENTER.

     WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Melvin J. Williams, Sr., Doctor of Theology, has faithfully served and has been a mentor for Springhill Christian Center for 29 years, as the congregation's pastor and spiritual shepherd; and

     WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Williams has been married for 45 years to his lovely wife, First Lady Stella Williams, and the ecclesiastical couple has been blessed with two children, a son-in-law, daughter-in-law and one granddaughter; and

     WHEREAS, men of faith such as Reverend Dr. Williams are rare in these times of social and moral decline in America, but nevertheless serve to uphold everything that is good and right about this country as examples to every other citizen of what this nation is capable of being when the spiritual foundation is built on faith in God; and

     WHEREAS, his tireless hours and commitment to the service of this community and abroad as is his discipleship to venture into other states and countries has taken on the countenance and disposition of every lineal fabric of Reverend Dr. Williams' being; and

     WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Williams' unwavering faith, God's vision, and guided actions have influenced many lives and families in the great State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend such outstanding Godly leaders as Reverend Dr. Williams, who has dedicated his long and distinguished career to bringing many souls to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the spiritual success of Reverend Dr. Melvin J. Williams, Sr., and First Lady Stella Williams, the cousins of our esteemed colleague, Representative Deborah Dixon, and extend congratulations in honor of this most auspicious occasion.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Reverend Dr. Melvin J. Williams, Sr., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
