A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE BRIAN ALDRIDGE FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AND WISHING HIM WELL UPON HIS RETIREMENT.
WHEREAS, after 12 years of dedicated service, Representative Brian Aldridge, a distinguished member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, will make the 2015 legislative year his last when he retires from the Legislature at the end of the current term of office; and
WHEREAS, Representative Aldridge began his legislative service in 2004, after being elected by the citizens of District 17, which is situated within Lee County; and
WHEREAS, born May 6, 1977, in Tupelo, Mississippi, Representative Aldridge attended Itawamba Community College and received his bachelor of arts from Mississippi State University; and
WHEREAS, gaining his stature as a statesman by rising through the ranks from freshman lawmaker to Chairman of the Interstate Cooperation Committee and Vice Chairman of the Tourism Committee, Representative Aldridge used the experience he gained over his tenure to perform his duties as a member of the following committees: Agriculture, Conservation and Water Resources, County Affairs, Education, Judiciary B, Juvenile Justice, Medicaid, Municipalities, Public Health and Human Services, Ways and Means and Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his public service as a member of the House of Representatives, Representative Aldridge has volunteered his time, energy and leadership skills to Rotary International and the Community Development Foundation; and
WHEREAS, the founder and Executive Director of Touched by an Angel Ministries, which operates a camp for disabled children and adults near Tupelo, Mississippi, Representative Aldridge steadfastly focused on doing whatever he could to help the people of his district during his tenure in the Legislature; and
WHEREAS, Representative Aldridge, a devout member of the Baptist faith, is looking forward to spending more time at home upon his retirement from the Legislature with his loving family, including his gracious wife, the former Jenna Leigh Pearson, and his three children, Jackson, Eli and Embry Lane; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor the legacy of one of our own, who has represented his district, this body and the people of this great state with honor and integrity:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby honor the legislative legacy of Representative Brian Aldridge, express gratitude for his many years of dedicated service to the people of the State of Mississippi and congratulate him upon his retirement from the Mississippi House of Representatives.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Brian Aldridge and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
