A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE 2014 AND 2015 RETIREES OF MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY FOR THEIR NUMEROUS YEARS OF DEDICATED, DISTINGUISHED AND COMMENDABLE SERVICE, AND EXTENDING TO THEM BEST WISHES UPON THE NOTEWORTHY OCCASION OF THEIR RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, a number of treasured employees of Mississippi Valley State University have retired since the 2013-2014 school year and others have announced plans for retirement at the conclusion of the 2014-2015 school year, after giving many years of their time and service to the students of the university, including:  2013-2014 retirees, Clyde Jefferson, fitness director; Mary J. Johnson, outreach advisor; Florence Ramsey, residence hall director; and Fareed T. Uqdah, computer lab technician; and 2014-2015 retirees, Willie M. Banks, machine operator; Roosevelt Blair, police officer; Gladys L. Coleman, general services; J.W. Gross, mechanic; Linda D. Davis, director; Morgan Z. Ero, department chair; Mack Felton, Associate Professor; Sam Gwin, driver; Robert I. Magee, custodial manager; Beverly J. Matthews, programmer; Anthony McClung, tutorial coordinator; Bettye J. Nelson, custodial services; Jeanette Roberts, Assistant Professor; Douglas W. Shanks, Head Baseball Coach; Victor Weathers, police officer; Lem M. Williams, print shop coordinator; and Ruby Woods, preschool teacher; and

     WHEREAS, throughout their years of service to Mississippi Valley State University, these retirees have contributed countless hours and a combined total of 368.5 years of experience fulfilling the duties and obligations associated with their various positions; and

     WHEREAS, these retirees are responsible for preparing and grooming an entire generation of future doctors, lawyers, nurses, politicians, teachers, leaders and other role models to face the challenges and victories that the future holds in store for our great nation; and

     WHEREAS, through tireless dedication and loving patience these retirees have made Mississippi a greater state by educating our children to become productive, God-fearing, responsible citizens and ensuring that the university as a whole is operating successfully; and

     WHEREAS, the citizens of this fine state owe an immeasurable debt of gratitude to the retiring employees of Mississippi Valley State University as they move to the lighter days of their awaited retirement; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by people who have dedicated so many years of their lives to developing and cultivating the minds and spirits of the many students with whom they have come in contact with during their illustrious careers:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2014 and 2015 retirees of Mississippi Valley State University for numerous years of dedicated service and extend best wishes upon the lighter years of their retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to each retiree and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
