A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING MR. TERRY CHOATE UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT SECURITY AFTER 37 YEARS OF SELFLESS SERVICE AND DEDICATION TO THIS STATE.

     WHEREAS, Terry Choate of Corinth, Mississippi, has retired from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES), whose goal is to help Mississippians get jobs, after faithfully and loyally serving for thirty seven years, during which time he helped make a positive impact on the lives of countless Mississippians; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Choate began his distinguished career working on both the Employment Services and Unemployment Insurance sides of the department, proving his versatility and showing that he was an invaluable asset for whomever he worked; and

     WHEREAS, quickly rising through the ranks of MDES, Mr. Choate worked as an Interviewer, On the Job Training (OJT) Contract Writer, Counselor, Supervising Interviewer, Office Manager and Branch Director, all the while proving himself to his superiors and eventually assuming the role of Area Director for MDES in the Mississippi Partnership Workforce Area, which covers the northeastern part of the state; and

     WHEREAS, after such a long record of service, Mr. Choate plans to spend his retirement with Debbie, his wife of 35 years, and catch up on yard work, do a little gardening, take trips with his brothers and enjoy time with his son Colin and other family members; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to acknowledge the selfless services of esteemed individuals such as Mr. Choate, whose contributions to this state have improved not only the lives of the people of this state, but Mississippi as a whole:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Terry Choate upon the occasion of his retirement from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security and express to him the gratitude of the House of Representatives for his exemplary service to this state, and extend best wishes for future success in the lighter years of his retirement.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Terry Choate, the Mississippi Department of Employment Security and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
