House Resolution 38

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICES AND OUTREACH OF CHRISTIAN SERVICE, INC., AND ACKNOWLEDGING THE ORGANIZATION'S COMMITMENT TO PROVIDING A MEALS ON WHEELS PROGRAM.

WHEREAS, committed to "Breaking the shackles of bondage through the living word," Christian Services, Inc., of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has been a member of the Meals on Wheels program, and remains the only member in the State of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, having partnered with several local churches in the communities of Forest and Lamar Counties, Christian Services, Inc.'s Meals on Wheels Ministry was able to provide more than 78,000 meals throughout 2014 feeding the homebound, elderly and needy in the area; and

WHEREAS, the members of Christian Services, Inc., have made it their goal to bring awareness to the need of caring for those less fortunate than themselves through its three-fold ministry to God, the saint and the sinner, by partnering with the national Meals on Wheels "No Senior Goes Hungry" campaign, by recognizing the entire month of March as "March for Meals" month throughout the nation, which will also include a 5K Fun Run on March 21, 2015; and

WHEREAS, the Meals on Wheels program of Christian Services, Inc., has proven itself to be a valuable resource to older adults and homebound individuals as volunteer drivers and churches have remained the backbone of the Meals on Wheels program through their dedication to bring not only hot, nutritious meals to clients, but also exhibiting a caring concern and attention to the welfare; and

WHEREAS, Christian Services, Inc., depends on these volunteers and the support of the community to serve the growing number of elders who need this service in order to remain in their homes and carry on their independent lifestyle; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the paramount humanitarian efforts of such organizations as Christian Services, Inc., and aid in its efforts to raise awareness and support for Meals on Wheels program in Hattiesburg, and surrounding areas:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize the outstanding community services and outreach of Christian Services, Inc., acknowledge the organization's commitment to providing a Meals On Wheels program in observance of "March for Meals" throughout the month of March 2015, and extend most sincere wishes for continued success in all its future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the officers of Christian Services, Inc., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
